Why do we hold a massage championship?

The Alabama Massage Championships are not just a competition, but a gathering of therapists and bodyworkers from across the state for education, fellowship, and furthering our profession through networking, guidance, and fun! The competition is just a small part of our true purpose, as we feel strongly that massage is collaborative, not competitive. The Alabama Massage Championships are held in accordance with the International Massage Association’s (IMA) guidelines.

The IMA sponsors the World Massage Championships in Denmark each summer, and, like our event, is more for the purpose of exchanging ideas between therapists with different backgrounds and from different countries, and to build camaraderie between bodyworkers all over the world.

What happens at the Alabama Massage Championships?

Our event is open to all, but especially for bodyworkers, whether they are competing or not. In addition to the Championships themselves, there are continuing education classes, seminars about the business of massage, vendors, and an opportunity for massage schools to participate in an exposition in which they can demonstrate or discuss a favorite part of their program.

What is the goal of the Championships?

Massage and bodywork is a diverse and dynamic profession. It is the goal of our event to celebrate, educate, and strengthen our community within the state of Alabama and the greater region. Introducing more people to the benefits of massage and bodywork is something we strive for, but inspiring and invigorating those who are already a part of the community is our greatest passion!
